First American edition, two quarto volumes in the original publisher's printed paper wrappers, authorship wrongly attributed to "the author of Jane Eyre " on the covers and title pages, contemporary gift inscription on front covers, worn, water staining, untrimmed, 7 3/4 x 5 1/4 in. (2) Wuthering Heights was Emily Brontë's only novel, and published after her death at the age of thirty.
