Large sheet of laid paper inscribed on one side, signed by Colonel Joseph Williams Esquire of Roxbury (1708-1798), docketed on the verso, a secretarial copy from the period; recording the field and staff officers of a Royal regiment raised in Massachusetts for an expedition to Crown Point, in northern New York along Lake Champlain, 13 March 1758 through 9 December 1758, and then continuing on to Boston on 28 February 1759; listing the following servicemen: Colonel Joseph Williams; Lieutenant Colonel Nathaniel Thwing of Boston; Major William Arburthnott of Boston; Reverend Samuel Shutte of Hingham, Chaplin; William Fairfield of Haverhill, Surgeon; Mates Ebenezer Robey of Framingham and Abiel Abbott of Andover; and Adjutants Job Cushman Barker of Boston and Howell Williams of Roxbury; the sheet broken into pieces where folded, 19 x 14 3/4 in. Colonel Joseph Williams' regiment was present at The Battle of Carillon, also known as the 1758 Battle of Ticonderoga,on July 8, 1758, during the French and Indian War.
