Gorham (American (Rhode Island), founded 1831), circa 1897. A Gorham sterling mounted American Brilliant cut glass biscuit jar decorated to four side planes with intricate geometric patterning of varying depths including fans, starbursts, and diamonds, the top mounted with a round hinged sterling lid and collar decorated with beaded band, the top surface with ornate swirling monogram. Sterling marked below hinge with maker's mark beside "sterling" and "S2769" beside the trident date mark. Glass apparently unmarked. Overall approximately 7.5" tall, 7" square. Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
