French, 19th century. A walnut fauteuil or armchair, the molded frame comprising a crest with jagged central curves flanked by c scrolls, the curved scrolled stiles terminating in a curved seat rail framing the back, the padded arms terminating in scroll hand rests surmounting curved supports, the generously proportioned seat with serpentine front edge over the molded serpentine apron, the back, the seat, and arms all upholstered in conforming grey and white patterned silk wool fabric with silver gilt nailhead trim, all raised on four cabriole legs on scroll feet. Approximate height 40", width 28.5", depth 25", seat to floor 17". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Helen Ballard, Atlanta, Georgia.
