Likely Belgian, 20th Century. A monumental carved and turned walnut buffet deux corps with oak secondary wood, the upper section with top surmounted by a gallery comprising turned baluster spindles flaking a central carved decorative panel with bonnet pediment carved with central shelf and flanking foliate scrolls over a cavetto molded cornice, surmounting a frieze decorated with a repeating pattern of carved patera rondels and carved leaves, the right and left side panels decorated with acanthus-carved corbels, all surmounting two doors each decorated with molded panels, the central panel of each with a relief-carved foliate motif, the right door with a fluted side panel that when closed allots the appearance of a stile between the doors, opening to an interior with two adjustable shelves, removable shelf support rails and multiple latches for adjustment of shelf height, doors flanked by double fluted columns over acanthus carved corbels, all raised on large baluster and urn front spindles with bulbous gadrooned urns and a molded back board decorated with a projecting urn-turned balustrade and flanked by flattened fluted columns over the top of the lower case surmounting heavy molding over two cove molded frieze drawers with brass pulls in the form of two cornucopias and central secret drawer in the form of a carved corbel, allover flanked by two acanthus carved corbels, surmounting two lower doors with molding and foliate central carving conforming to case top doors opening Read more…
