LIBERIA Height 11 inches Provenance: David Markin Acquired From the Above by the Denver Art Museum, 1971. Marks, nicks, scratches, abrasions and chips throughout, consistent with wear. Significant old loss and damage to proper right side of face. Loss of metal adornment above proper right eye which is present on the left. Fine light brown patina throughout, more apparent on protruding surfaces and edges. Old loss to proper left side of forehead. Loss of original fibre fastening, on one side, connecting the jaw to face, replaced with modern plastic ties. Old adhesive on reverse with black ink reading: 'Markin #4.' In black ink on reverse: '479-QA-G.' Old inventory number in white ink on reverse: '1971.659.'
