Diego Rivera (Mexico, 1886-1957) unframed sanguine, chalk and charcoal on paper mural study for the Detroit Industries Mural, commissioned by Henry Ford and executed between 1932-1933 as a tribute to the American Worker. This piece was completed in 1931 and depicts an industrial worker with a star on his welding glove. Signed "Diego Rivera" to the upper right hand corner and measuring approximately 18" in height by 22" in width. Comes complete with a letter of provenance from an owner whose family was given the piece by the actor Jack Benny. Also included is the original receipt of sale to Jack Benny (spelled 'Beny' on the form), dated March 12, 1942 and signed by Diego Rivera.
