Cambier", pencil titled to lower center. Matted and framed under glass. Frame measures 14-7/8" in height by 18-1/4" in width with the sight image measuring 9" in height by 12-3/8" in width. All measurements are approximate.Pierre Eugene Cambier (French, 1914-2000) first began to exhibit his works in Paris, France in 1948, at the annual Salon des Independents. Following his success there, he joined another annual show, the Salon d'Automne, and participated in these shows from 1953 to 1960. Thereafter, his works were shown and sold at the Galerie Urban, Paris, Galerie O'Hara, London, and Galerie Sothman, Amsterdam. Cambier's watercolors - his preferred medium - show well known and characteristic locations of Paris and quotidian activities of Parisian life, as well as the symbiosis of nature and architecture in the French country-side. Cambier lived and worked in Paris as professor of drawing and illustration until his death in the year 2000.
