Mabel Pugh (American, 1891 - 1986) "Mary Queen of Scots" woodblock print, initialed in the plate, pencil titled and signed; measures approximately 14-1/2" in height by 11" in width with a sight image of approximately 7-1/8" in height by 5" in width. Matted and framed under glass.Mabel Pugh (American, 1891 - 1986) was an American artists whose block prints began appeared on the covers of popular novels, her illustrations in pen and ink were published within them. Her illustrations were used in many magazines such as McCall’s, Ladies’ Home Journal, The Forum and The Survey Graphic. The artist won numerous exhibition awards at various venues including the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1920, the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors in 1934.
