Likely English, 19th century. A stained oak footstool, low bench/footstool, or occasional stool with one pair of armrests in the form of stylized ancient Norse animal heads, the opposing armrests forming their carved bushy tails, each armrest joined by a ring and baluster turned crossrail, over the seat upholstered in mustard fabric with brass nailhead trim, the splayed board legs with scalloped edges joined by a trestle stretcher with exposed mortise and tenons. Approximate height 19.75", width 37", depth 10.5", seat to floor 14".
