Artist-designed Enamel Brooch, Jack Youngerman, c. 1969, 2 7/8 x 2 in., made by Multiples Inc., signed and dated. Note: Jack Youngerman (b. 1926), a modernist painter and sculptor, trained in Paris in the 1950s with Ellsworth Kelly and Josef Albers. In the period when this brooch was made, Youngerman was using positive/negative compositional schemes and broad areas of unmodulated color with a controlled palette to produce vibrant images. A retrospective of his work was presented at the Guggenheim in 1986. Exhibitions: This design was exhibited in Jewelry as Sculpture as Jewelry, Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, 1973.
