John Konstantin Hansegger (Swiss, 1908-1989) Poésie . Signed "Hansegger" l.r., titled on the reverse and on a typed label affixed to the reverse. Oil on panel, 25 3/8 x 19 5/8 in., framed. Condition: Scattered retouch, surface grime. N.B. The typed label on the reverse gives the artist's address as Zurich, which would date the work to before 1948, the year that the artist settled permanently in the United States. After staring his career in Switzerland c. 1928, the artist lived abroad in Munich and Paris from 1933 to 1942, then returned to his native Switzerland in 1942.
