Japanese, Late 19th/Early 20th century. Collection of two sumida gawa pottery items comprising of a handled pitcher with blue, purple and brown glazed top above figural scene with men in blue and white being helped from fall with another man holding lantern on horizontal ridged red ground, porcelain medallion back under handle with marks in blue under glaze; and a handled mug or tankard with blue and green glazed top above red ridged body with horned donkey near green floor vase, marked with in porcelain medallion with signature for Ban-ni presumed to be a member of the Ryosai family. Pitcher approximate height 8.4". Mug approximate height 5.125".
