Simon & Halbig (German, 1839-1943) designed by Heinrich Handwerck (Germany, 1876-1902) circa 1890. German bisque porcelain socket doll bearing sleepy eyes, an open mouth showing teeth, and an eleven piece ball jointed composition and wood body. Doll is clothed in an antique style cream colored print and lace country dress with cream pantalets, long lace socks, and white shoes. Incised behind the head '109'', '13 3/4', and 'H 5'. The back also stamped in red 'Handwerck'. Approximate height 24".
