Guglielmo Trafeli (Italian, 19th century), "Children Playing", carved marble sculpture, incised on back "G. Trafeli". Carved marble figural sculpture depicting a charming scene with two young children (a boy and a girl) taking a break from their chores. Young girl wearing bonnet and dress standing beside a bucket and leaning against rock as the young boy in came and short trousers lovingly teases her. Figural sculpture raised on a columnar fluted floor display pedestal with black veining throughout white marble (back straight for displaying against wall) with meandering key border and egg and dart banding terminating on an octagonal plinth. Overall approximate height 56.75".
