Document Signed. ("U. S. Grant"), appointing David B. Parker the be the United States Marshall for the District of Virginia, April 5, 1869; counter-signed by Hamilton Fish, Secretary of State, with the seal of the United States; four folds. Matted and framed with a portrait of Grant in his general's uniform, and a brass plaque. Framed 21 x 33 1/2 inches. During the Civil War, Parker superintended the mail for the Army of the Potomac. Later, as a colonel, he was the Chief Postal Inspector of the Post Office Department.
