War-dated ALs signed 'W. T. Sherman, Maj Genl,' one page, on Headquarters, Military Division of the Mississippi letterhead, Addressed To General Howard. Dated February 2, 1865. Written on the field during General Sherman's March to the Sea. Transcription available upon request. Letter is pasted down to board along top edge; light staining noted at upper left corner and at lower right; board and letter are cockled along top edge; both sides of the letter are lined with a sheer, lightweight, open weave, fabric.
