$1,000
(American, 1912-2006) Golden Glow, 1963 oil on canvas signed A. Osver (lower left), titled and dated (verso) 29 3/4 x 24 inches. Property from the Estate of Elinor G. Slosberg, St. Louis, Missouri Shows well in natural light. Work is inscribed on back "6-16-63 over old & heavily painted dark blue oil ptg I smeared on UPW & oil blue (no latex)." Under UV light, a couple of areas fluoresce - heaviest in upper right corner and lower left corner. Taking into consideration that this is a re-used canvas, there are more possibilities as to why the areas fluoresce. The upper right corner suggests a touch-up as pigment appears darker in natural light, also has a diagonal line of craquelure. Lower left corner has radiating lines of craquelure, possibly from heavy pigment from re-used canvas. There are inconsistent areas of craquelure scattered about the composition. Small pigment loss (1 cm) where pigment is heavy in upper right quadrant and center right quadrant. Additional photographs available upon request.
