(Spanish, Active 1470-1500) Presentation of the Head of Saint John the Baptist to Herodias oil and gold leaf on panel 54 x 40 1/4 inches. Property from the Estate of Marlene Nasreddine, Miami, Florida Slight warping to the panel consistent with age. Scattered vertical age splits with associated flaking and instances of loss to the painted surface; the two most significant splits span the entire board vertically. General discoloration and scattered instances of loss to the painted surface, particularly to the figure holding the head of Saint John in the lower-left register. Reinforced on the back with four horizontal wood panels; worming to the wood. Vertically aligned patches of plaster applied to fill the age splits on the back. Examination under UV reveals scattered, minor areas of retouch and a faint, uneven varnish.
