(Possibly Catalan School, 15th Century) Crucifixion egg tempera and gilt on wood 31 1/2 x 35 1/2 inches. Property from the Estate of Marlene Nasreddine, Miami, Florida Scattered, minor areas of loss to the paint throughout, exposing the underlying gesso; craquelure to the paint throughout. Age splits throughout. Appears that the apex of the crest and flanking tracery elements are missing. Worming to the wood. Shrinkage gaps to the vertical planks, visible on the back. Examination under UV reveals areas of fluorescence and retouch, particularly to the gilt decoration.
