viel-robin, mid-19th century the circular dial with Roman numeral hours and flanked by the figure of Napoleon in Classical garb, raised on a stepped rectangular base mounted with flaming torches, raised on cast paw feet. Height 26 3/4 inches. Clock in good, stable condition. Case intact without dents or losses. Napoleon's open hand suggests perhaps he had been holding something but there are no open screw holes or evidence of past attachment. Bronze finish with fairly even patinas throughout, some light surface wear, dirty. Silk suspension works take a wind to both springs, runs, and strikes on the hour and the half. Unsure as to duration or accuracy of movement. Works complete with pendulum, bell and associated key. Additional images available upon request.
