Carved and Painted Shadow Box Diorama of Two Sailing Ships, attributed to Francis J. Ullock, Newcastle, New Brunswick, c. 1926, the vessels sail on a choppy blue-painted putty "sea," in a gold-painted, barrel-backed, and canted side shadow box frame, ht. 19 3/4, wd. 49 1/8, dp. 13 in. Provenance: Pictou Lodge, Nova Scotia. Note: The schooner in the diorama is the Bluenose , constructed in Nova Scotia in the early 20th century; she went undefeated in every International Schooner race in which she competed.
