Very Large Northern Plains Beaded Hide Knife Sheath, c. 1870s, red painted buffalo rawhide with a strip of fringe and square shanked brass tacks, the top covered in soft buffalo hide and beaded with chevron designs, possibly made for a machete or sword, (minor bead loss), lg. 22 1/4, wd. 5 1/2 in. Provenance: Beverly Mathews, Queen's Council Estate, collected by his great-grandfather in the 19th century.
