Unknown to modern-day magicians, Edwin Myhre was a successful entertainer of rural Americans. A Minnesotan of Scandinavian descent, Myhre performed under his own tent, on his own stage, often playing one week at a time in each town on his route. According to fellow Minnesotan C.A. George Newmann, Myrhe offered a complete change of program each night, to entice patrons back to the tent theater repeatedly. In reviewing the Myhre show for The Linking Ring, Newmann wrote, “He is a real showman who possesses a personality so winning that he sells himself to the audience with his opening effect.”
