19th century in two parts, the superstructure with a molded cornice over two glazed doors opening to a shelved interior, the base with a secretary drawer over two paneled doors flanked by twist carved columns, raised on turned feet. Height 86 x width 40 x depth 22 inches open. In poor condition overall. Superstructure: Scattered age splits, instances of lifting and areas of loss to the veneer. Area of loss to the proper-left side of the case along the lower edge. The upper hinge of the proper-right glazed door is detached. Repaired area of loss to the veneer to the proper-right side of the case on the upper-back corner. Two minor areas of cracks to the glazed door. Areas of paper residue to the back of the case interior. Area of loss to a lower corner of the proper-left door. Base: Two large age splits to the rectangular top, the longer of which is 20 3/4 inches in length. Scattered areas of loss to the veneer. Area of loss to one handle of the secretary drawer. Felt-lined writing surface of the secretary drawer is partially detached. Paneled doors opening to an interior retroactively fitted with drawers. Allover sun damage and areas of staining and discoloration to both sides of the base. Surface wear to the feet in the form of scratches, nicks and abrasions.
