Inoue Ryosai (Japanese, 19th/ 20th century). A Sumida Gawa stoneware pottery drink set comprising of a tall handled pitcher and a lidded censer or jar, each with orange-red matte finish body decorated with tiny applied monkeys traveling on a bridge or hillside, each vessel with flambe style glaze in black, green, and white cascading down upper portion of vessel, the pitcher with teardrop loop handle to one side, the jar with slitted round lid. Each marked in underglaze blue on white applied pottery seal to back. Pitcher approximately 12.5" tall, jar approximately 3.75" tall.
