Tony Mark (Mindimbit Village, Mid Sepik, Papua New Guinea) carved ancestral figure; measures approximately 15-1/4" high, 4-1/2" wide and 2" in depth. No apparent signature. Provenance Although it no longer has a Haus Tambaran, the artists from Mindimbit have retained their distinctive carving style. Tony Mark is well known for his renditions of these traditional ancestral figures and is among those artists who have been designated by their peers as master carvers. His sculpture is notable for its refinement of form.
