Vernon Ward (British, 1905-1985) framed under glass print depicting a goose flying over a wetland. Frame measures 17-1/4” in height by 20” in width with the sight image measuring 10-1/4” in height by 13-3/4” in width. All measurements are approximate. Vernon Ward (British, 1905–1985) was a painter and commercial artist known for his depictions of flowers, birds, and Edwardian subjects. Born in Hampstead, London, Ward studied at the Slade School of Art under Henry Tonks, Philip Wilson Steer, and Sir Walter Westley Russell. A member of the New Society of Artists, he became an associate of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1926, and exhibited at the Royal Society and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. His work was particularly successful in the commercial industry, and was widely reproduced on jigsaw puzzles, greetings cards, and prints.
