Rufino Tamayo (New York/Mexico, 1899 - 1991) framed mixed media oil & sand on canvas depicting a semi-abstract geometric figure of a man with red-hued face with yellow stripe on a dark background. Tamayo created a series of "Cabeza" pieces primarily throughout the 1960s and 1970s. This piece comes complete with certificate of authenticity. In overall good condition. Measures in gold-toned frame 22-1/2" in height with width of 18-1/4", and having sight image height of 19-1/2" with width of 15-1/2". Signed "Tamayo" to the lower right hand corner. Provenance: from the estate of a prominent Texas collector, known to not only to have collected quite an assortment of notable art, but to have befriended a vast majority of the artists of whose work was acquired.
