Umberto Romano (Italy/United States, 1906 - 1982) framed under glass ink and watercolor depicting a man's face. Signed "Umberto Romano 1962" to the bottom right hand corner. Frame measures 23" in height by 17-1/4" in width with a sight image of 15-1/4" in height by 9-3/8" in width. All measurements are approximate. Umberto Romano was an Italian born semi-abstract painter known for his portraits and murals. He was a member of the board and vice president of the design academy from 1967 to 1974 and was a member of the Century Club. His work has been displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Fogg Art Museum in Boston and the Corcoran Gallery and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.
