Philadelphia Chippendale mahogany dining chair, ca. 1770 , the crest with a central voluted floral spray, above a pierced splat and trapezoidal slip seat, supported by carved cabriole legs terminating in ball and claw feet. A matching chair also from the Philadelphia Museum of Art was sold at Pook & Pook, Inc., October 3, 2015, lot 265. Provenance: Property sold with the approval of the trustees of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit acquisition funds.
