Mickey Mouse doll , finely crafted velvet and felt doll, licensed by George Borgfeldt, but maker unknown, possibly an early unmarked Knickerbocker, 19” h. Differences between this and the other Borgfeldt doll in this sale are eye size, gauge of stitching on gloves, and cloth tail; all of which suggests that this was among the first Mickey dolls made before fabrication standards were set. In this example, one foot is imprinted Geo. Borgfeldt & Co., New York/Distributor , the other foot is imprinted Design Patent No. and two other smudged lines, which presumably read ”Walt Disney’s/Mickey Mouse”.
