late 19th/early 20th century of baluster form, the cover surmounted by a handled urn finial above the body mounted with foliate handles and having a continuous band painted to show a courting couple in a bucolic landscape signed Poitevin, raised on a shaped base with foliate scroll mounts ending in hairy paw feet. Height 43 1/4 inches. Lid and base both broken and restored with overpainting. Body with crazing, minor scratches consistent with age and dust. Mounts with dull patina. No visible marks.
