$1,250
19th century each of cylindrical form, having a painted rectangular reserve to each side depicting a maiden and Cupid in a landscape, spaced with classical profiles against a claret ground decorated with ribbon tied floral swags in gilt, raised on a fluted plinth and with a beehive mark in underglaze blue to the underside. Height 8 1/2 inches. Each in good, stable condition overall. Instances of rubbing and loss to the gilt highlights, particularly to the raised gilt highlights. General wear, pilling and discoloration to each upholstered circular top. Scattered areas of grime accumulation and minor discoloration throughout; the latter is particularly evident on the claret ground. Examination under UV light reveals an area of retouch to the horizontal band of foliate decoration above one of the fluted bases.
