$10,000
17th/18th century having a rectangular top with a concave front above the conforming case fitted with four drawers, raised on bracket feet and inlaid throughout to depict flowering vines. Height 40 1/4 x width 50 1/2 x depth 26 1/2 inches. Property from the Collection of The Steins, Glencoe, Illinois Chest is in overall good, stable, usable condition. Exterior surface fairly even throughout with typical light to moderate surface were and areas of likely repair. The inlays appear mostly complete and tight throughout with some minor areas of loss. Some discoloration to inlays. Age split to top. Drawers all open and close fairly smoothly, each with lock but no key. Pulls possibly replaced. Some splitting to drawer bottoms with some much later rebracing. Secondary wood is pine. Underside likely adapted, now with casters. Circular holes to underside (see images) suggest that perhaps a different type of feet were used earlier and that those have been replaced with the current bracket feet. Later blocking also to underside. Elements appear 17th/18th century but with some later adaptations. Additional images available upon request.
