of cartouche form, having a cobalt ground with gilt highlights, the hinged cover painted to show a courting couple in a landscape and opening to a vacant interior, bearing a transfer printed interlaced Ls mark within two concentric circles to the underside. Width 11 inches. In good condition. Scattered areas of rubbing and loss to the gilt decoration, particularly to the hinged cover. Minor tarnish to the gilt metal; hinge intact. Light shelf wear to the base. Two minor surface chips to the molded foot. Examination under UV light reveals no evidence of retouch.
