American or English, mid 19th century. A modeled redware lamb, having a downturned head and glass eyes, with crackled lead glaze. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 13.25", width 21", depth 8.5". Provenance: Property from the Estate of Mr. John L. Roper II, Former Owner and CEO of NORSHIPCO (Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Corporation), of Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Roper collected a number of fine American antiques and art including a noteworthy early American coin collection that sold at auction in 2014.
