Chinese, Ming Dynasty Xuande Period mark (1426-1435), 20th century. A modeled pottery sculptural chimera depicted seated with front legs splayed and head turning to one side with bony spine detailed along the animal's back, allover with cobalt blue glaze and white highlights to the brown pottery base. Marked to underside with 6 character blue underglaze mark for the Xuande imperial reign. Approximate height 7.75", width 10", depth 6.5".
