Japanese, likely Meiji Period (1868-1912). An unusual Satsuma glazed pottery garden seat or pedestal of tall cylindrical form with flared foot bearing band of enamel lappets, convex band to center of form bearing chrysanthemum blossoms amid meandering vines and pierced floral vents, and everted top with cloud patterning incised to to top surface, the remainder of body with elaborate depictions of two beauties in flowing colorful robes flanked by a large flower blossom in relief, the top figure also flanked by fu dog mask handles with drop rings, the item to a separable carved wood base with sloping sides. Approximate height of pottery 23", width across handles 10.25".
