Japanese, late 19th/early 20th century. A fine and unusual Sumida Gawa pottery vase with allover blue to purple flambe glaze over a copper glazed band at base, with applied cluster of grapes and grape leaves to body finished with a single figural cicada or grasshopper at top (wings broken). Underside with two impressed seal marks and one incised signature. Approximate height 12".
