Spode (English, founded 1767), circa first quarter 19th century. A set of thirteen pieces of early earthenware comprising two dessert dishes. a small oval tray or underplate and ten luncheon or dessert plates all in the same "Group" pattern having printed floral decoration in blue underglaze and red enamel with pink enamel over the glaze on the flowers. The two dessert dishes marked with "1480" in red. The oval underplate with impressed "SPODE 5" and maker's mark. Approximate height of dessert dishes 1.5 ", width 7.75",. depth 7.75". Approximate height of oval underplate 1", width 10.5", depth 7.5". Approximate height of plates 1.25", diameter 8.75". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Mrs. Nancy Rutledge Pogue, Blufton, South Carolina (wife of Mr. William Pogue, who served as an heir to the H. & S. Pogue Company department store chain based in Cincinnati, Ohio).
