Continental, possibly Dutch, mid to late 19th century. A pair of carved oak hall or side chairs, each having a carved shell form back with a scalloped crest rail, decorated with a dogwood flower, with a trapezoidal seat fitted with a removable seat pad, with turned front legs terminating in arrow feet, with incurvate back legs. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 37.25", width 17.9", seat depth 13.75", seat to floor 21".
