French, Early 19th century. Antique heart shaped necklace pendant with rectangular hand painted portrait of a woman holding a pearl and cameo necklace within an engraved 18k rose gold border with glazed front, above a fleur-de-lis with white rose cut glass accents against black enamel ground with white hand painted enamel dots and scrollwork within an 18k yellow gold beaded border, scrolled framing on exterior accented with garnets, additional garnets on tapered loop--16 bezel set, cushion cut garnets throughout form (approximately 1.50 carats total weight, clarity: I1). Marked with two hallmarks on rounded bail surmounging sterling silver frame of heart-shaped pendant. Back recessed and glazed for storing hair (now missing). Unmarked but acid tested as 18k gold in sections noted and sterling silver on sections noted above. Pendant measures approximately 2.75" x 1.7". Overall weight approximately 25.6 grams.
