Italian, mid to late 20th century. An antiqued and polychromed Venetian Rococo style writing desk and matching chair, having an overhanging serpentine top with a molded gold edge, inset with a mirrored top, over a conforming apron, carved with light red or pink crosshatched panels, each with a beaded gold edge, the front inset with one long and two short drawers, each lined in ivory fabric, on four tapering incurvate legs with slipper feet, the accompanying chair having a high serpentine crest rail over a scrolled and pierced splat, with a floral upholstered seat and a decorated seat rail, on four cabriole legs terminating in cuffed feet, with a turned H-stretcher. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height (of desk) 28.5", width 43", depth 22.5", height (of chair) 43.5", width 20.25", seat depth 15.5", seat to floor 18".
