Continental, likely Italian, mid 19th century. A Rococo style carved and polychromed gesso and wood console, having a concave serpentine top with a curved back, resting on two scrolled acanthine legs, with a carved acanthus leaf and rocaille drop, on a conforming concave base. Polychromed to resemble marble. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 40.25", width 49.5", depth 23.425". Note: the back of this piece curves slightly, and was designed to rest against a rounded wall. It will not rest properly against a flat wall.
