Continental, late 19th/early 20th century. Collection of two miniature portraits in matching brass frames with oval glazed fronts depicting Pope Leo XIII ( 1810-1903)in profile. One image depicting him in white and red papal garb with hands clasped in prayer in front of a crucifixion, an image of the Virgin Mary, and an open book--presumably, the Bible; the other depicting him in a black vestment robe with hand raised and pointing to wooden crucifix, opposite hand with leather covered book. Each apparently unsigned. Each framed approximately 5.25" x 4.3". Provenance: From the Private Collection of the Owner of Chelsea House.
