Spode (English, founded 1776). Two early 19th century blue and white transfer platters; the smaller one in the "Blue Willow" pattern with two birds, three people on a bridge, a fence, a boat and a teahouse (pagoda) the other in "Long Bridge" pattern with large pagoda and figures in the window of a tea house joined by a bridge over sailing ships in water. Apparently neither platter marked. Approximate height of smaller platter 1.5", width 16.75", depth 12.75". Approximate height of larger platter 2", width 19", depth 14.5". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Mrs. Nancy Rutledge Pogue, Blufton, South Carolina (wife of Mr. William Pogue, who served as an heir to the H. & S. Pogue Company department store chain based in Cincinnati, Ohio).
