English, late 18th/early 19th century. A blue and white transferware tureen on a platter with a ladle, having a blue and white chinoiserie motif, with the monogram "JVDS." Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 7.75", width 12.425", depth 8.25". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Mrs. Nancy Rutledge Pogue, Blufton, South Carolina (wife of Mr. William Pogue, who served as an heir to the H. & S. Pogue Company department store chain based in Cincinnati, Ohio).
