American, possibly Southern, first half 19th century. A late Federal period stained oak chest on chest, the upper portion having a molded projecting cornice over a pair of short and three graduated drawers flanked to each sided by chamfered corners with lamb's tongue terminals, an associated lower case of three graduated drawers, base raised on turned feet. The upper section with pencil writing in the bottom drawer side "Sarah Evans" along with illegible writing. The backside of case with sticker "Salle de Ventes GALERIE MODERNE/Rue des Petits-Carmes, 41-1000 BRUXELLES/CCO 000-031530-12/1406". Approximate height 73", width 44.5", depth 20.25".
