English, late 17th/ early 18th century. A late Jacobean carved and joined oak armchair, having a beaded crest rail over a rectangular, paneled back with beaded molding, with two curved arms resting on bobbin-turned arm supports, with a polygonal seat over a conforming incised seat rail, with bobbin-turned front legs on block feet and squared back feet, with a box stretcher. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 35.5", width 22.5", seat depth 14.415", seat to floor 17.3". Provenance: From the Estate of a prominent publisher and philanthropist, Greenwich, CT.
